It often seems like what gets tagged "Common" and what gets tagged "Rare" is completely arbitrary, done not through some intrinsic quality of the skins but because "Well, SOMETHING has to be rare, might as well be this gun I suppose." It exists to give some skins inflated artificial value for the sake of the digital slot machine, but to me that's just generally anti-consumer practice. To be fair, I'm also the kind of philisitne who doesn't see the point of the whole "rarity" system altogether. So while I am sad to see the legendary mods go away, Overkill could make more effort in producing quality legendaries that stand out from other skins in the same safe and stand out from other legendaries. On the other hand, community legendaries like Admiral and Toro succeeded in getting some more defining style and character. They have no character, no uniqueness, no defining feature. The legendaries from the Chains and Scarface are indistinguishable from other skins in the same safe. Overkill's change of stance is a bit disheartening for such collectors.Īs a collector myself, I have been very disappointed by the last few legendaries, especially the ones coming from Overkill. You are also correct that few people see legendaries, but the few that bothered collecting them did get used to the unique looks and got to love them. This way you get the nice unique look, moddability and same stats as regular weapons.Īnother option is to make the custom mod on a part of the weapon that's not moddable (like the body or even the lil friends grenade launcher).

Which cosmetically change some of the default mods but keep the exact same stats. They could turn legendary mods into "mod skins". Moving into a system which doesn't prevent weapon modding is - to me - superior. Frankly, I there isn't a single Unique skin I'd personally use even if it looked good (say, the Hungry Wolf) simply because it doesn't match how I'd mod the gun. While I know this isn't exactly a zero-sum game, but I'd personally rather see 3D modelling work go into making new weapon mods rather than whole new weapon models that can't be modded anyway. I also strongly suspect you're overstating the magnitude of it, considering most of the Unique skins ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ suck exactly BECAUSE of their unique mods. I strongly suspect you're overestimating the extent of the issue.
